Yoram Yaacovi is a Group Manager in the Information Worker New Markets group at Microsoft. In his current role, Yoram leads Microsoft’s efforts in the area of Office-based Sales Department solution accelerators, with the Microsoft Office Solution Accelerator for Proposals being the first accelerator in the pipeline. Yoram also leads Microsoft’s strategic investment in connecting Information Workers to their enterprise data and processes.
Yoram joined Microsoft in 1993 and worked in a variety of development and development management roles on Windows 95, NetMeeting, MSN Communities and the Microsoft Reader, all products that are now shipping and iused by millions of users.
In the emerging market of electronic books, Yoram led the design and development of Microsoft’s products for the Electronic Books market: Microsoft Reader for a variety of platforms, eBooks-related technologies such as ClearType, Digital Rights Management and Annotations, and the secure distribution infrastructure for selling and delivering electronic books.
Having written enough code - at least for a while - Yoram took the role of a Product Unit Manager for the Microsoft Information Rights Management Server (IRMS) that enables the protection and control of digital content in the enterprise environment with focus on Office 2003 content. IRMS is now shipping as part of Windows Server 2003.
Yoram has 13 patents in client and server technologies, an IETF standard (RFC): Dynamic extension for LDAP; and several articles in the computer press. Yoram is also a board member of the American Technion Society - Northwest Chapter.
Yoram holds a B.Sc in Computer Science from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, cum laude. 1983. In his spare time he likes to read (mainly science fiction), off-road and on-road travel and watch/play soccer.
