Garage: Build It!If you build it, they will come!
Had enough talking? Come to the Garage. The Garage is the geeks playground for Kinnernet. Workshops provide ideas for Garage hackings, so link from relevant workshops to this page.
The garage is open all through Kinnernet!

Kinnernet is the place and the audience is yours to forget about that dead-line & your shareholders.
- Do you want to build, try and participate in:
Join in! We have a room in Ohalo to do cool things. Looking for ideas? Teaming up? Can you bring tools & stuff?
Trash-based Boat Sailing Photo taken at the Bezalel Low tech camp at the dead sea, Dec 05 Ezri Tarazi, Nir Shntal, Eden Shochat What to build? Sailing boats. Why to build? To transfer data.
Bring materials (!) 1.5l bottles, foam, sticks, plastic hangers, newspapers, nylon paper binders, bring gulf war nylon for sails, other ideas? Friday: Kickoff - basic training (Ezri Tarazi) to introduce materials and how to build a thing that floats Saturday Morning: Sailboat improvements with Nir Shental at the Garage to get ready. We will try the boats (the dataship project!) at the Kinneret at the afternoon before the closing session to transfer data as a replacement to underwater cables! Who can bring materials and tools? Technicians:
Didi & Vladimir's Raft
To be built in the garage, and christened in the holy waters of the Kinnernet during the dataship event. We'll be sailing it, so join in!

Make Ohad's bullet-punctured laptop work againThey shot my laptop but the bastards only got the fan and a few wires. Help me make this wonderful ThinkPad T43p work again :-) It sort-of-boots but thats when things start getting wrong, needs external screen.

Overclock a PC and make it an electric stove Nimrod Lehavi and Guy Vardi will overclock a PC. They will use the extra heat that will be generated to cook an omelet during the extravaganza. Manipulate sound and image through movement with KEEShira - I'll hopefully make it work by or while the camp :-D I'd like to work out with people different outputs, meaning different interpretations of this movement and form, composition wise: in sound or in image. people needed: programmers for sound, graphics, video, games, (high to low level programming), musicians, visual artists participants: shira, person
Stuff people bring to the garage to play with: - Eden: Analog RF control + (very) lightweight engine
- Nimrod: Stdring, trash bags, fiberglass rods X 5 (2 M).
- Sharon: 3-4 cold cathodes light, 2-3 133 ATA colored cables, 1-2 LED fans
- nimrodlehavi: not so working TV set, not so working MAC 21'' screen
Hands-on Cryptopgraphy Who needs a computer, anyway? Learn how to encrypt visual images in a way that the NSA can't break, but even a child can decrypt without a computer! Perform perfectly secure voting using PEZ candies! Solve a difficult romantic dilemma using a deck of playing cards! We will begin with a brief talk about the kind of cryptography you can do without a computer, and their operating principles. We'll then have a hands-on session, in which you'll create your own cryptographic business card. No prior knowledge assumed. Useful preparation:
In the hands-on part, it is recommended to prepare the graphics for your cryptographic business card beforehand. The image needs to be black&white (1bpp), with white features over a black background. Make any important features (e.g., letter stems in text) at least 2 pixels wide. You can prepare either a single image of size 72x40 (stay clear of the center), or for a nicer effect, two different images of size 72x20 (stay clear of the bottom edge). Any simple image editor, such as KDE KolourPaint or MS Paint, will suffice for this job. Send your images in .BMP format to Elad, or bring them on a USB memory stick. Examples: side1.bmp, side2.bmp, singleSide.bmp. Make sure the image format is set to black&white. Needed equipment: Please contact Eran if you can bring any of the following:
- A big, strong magnifying glass
- Viewgraph transparencies projector
- Inkjet printer + ink (got these, but a spare would be great)
- Inkjet-printable transparencies (likewise)
Cutting tools (sharp razors, cutting boards) Organized by Elad Barkan and Eran Tromer.

Building a computer from LEGO Logic Gates
As Ohad, Eden, and Roostam suggested, I will try to build a mechanical computer that uses Boolean gates for doing simple mathematical addition of two binary numbers. I do not have the solution yet but I hope it will be accomplished during the camp. You are more then welcomed to join me.
I am bringing all the Technic Lego I have, If you have some Technic Lego and you can bring it will be helpful. This is how a Lego NOR gate looks like:

The Microsoft Pinata™ ! Destroy the MS Pinata™ (blindfolded with a broom) and release all the old MSDN discs inside on an unsuspecting world. Hosted by Ilan and Eden ; we will bring the cloth pinata. Everybody bring old Windows and MSDN discs to fill (i'll bring some candy so something good will come out of it...)
